Dealing with review sites

More will be added to this page later.

In brief, we recommend that you engage with review sites.

Where possible, contribute content and images. If there is an opportunity to claim management of a listing, claim it. If you are not listed, get listed if you can.

When a review is published,  use your right of reply if available. In many cases you can reply so make sure you do, both to good and bad reviews.  Negative reviews are of course the most difficult especially if they are unfair or inaccurate. Be calm and polite, stick to the facts, and be businesslike. Say “The reviewer did not stay in my cottage therefore I believe this review is false” not “The reviewer is a lying toad”. If a negative review is accurate because something did go wrong, own up and apologise,  say you are doing something about it, and what. Make sure it looks as if you are going to learn from the problem and improve.
