Roughly, for ever £1 spent on accommodation, another £1 is also spent on goods and services.
The Economic Impact of the Rural and Coastal Self-Catering Sector in England
Published in October 2016, a report by the University of Greenwich demonstrates the economic value of self-catering holiday accommodation. Little research had previously been carried out to establish how much economic value is generated by tourism using self-catering holiday accommodation. This independent analysis provides a comprehensive survey of the market and shows that over 20,000 full-time equivalent jobs are sustained by self-catering holidays.
